Thai-Burma Border Humanitarian Assistance Program

COMMITMENT

To alleviate the suffering of people-in-need along the Thai-Burma border, regardless of their nationality, religion, gender or political beliefs.

AIM

To proactively render appropriate humanitarian assistance services, particularly to Extremely Vulnerable Individuals (EVI’s), that will enable them to live their lives with dignity and encourage them to be productive and caring members of their communities.

SERVICE CAPABILITIES

  • Over 34 years of Humanitarian service to Refugees and affected Host Communities.

  • COERR is the only Thai NGO with full coverage of all 9 refugee camps along the Thai-Burmese border.

  • 4 Field Offices (Mae Hong Son, Mae Sariang, Mae Sot, (Kanchanaburi) & 2 sub-offices (Umpang, Sangklaburi).

  • 66 Program Staff personnel

  • 362 Camp Staff (camp-based refugees i.e.- Community Social Workers, Agriculture Trainers, Waste Management and Environmental Protection Workers, Healing of Memory group leaders.

COERR operates an integrated multi-component humanitarian assistance Programme:

1.  Protection of EVI’s   Community Services;

  • Relief Supplies;

  • Self-Help Activities/Vocational Training;

  • Education& sport equipment supplies ;

  • Monitoring of Unaccompanied Separated Children;

  • Psychosocial Training & Child Protection;

  • Preservation of Traditional Arts through the Elderly

  • Youth Leadership & Participation (Youth-led Projects)

2.  Sustainable Agriculture & Environmental Protection

  • Organic Agriculture Training & Production;

  • Community-based Waste Management (Mae La camp);

  • Tree Planting

  • Mini-Firefighting Stations

3.  Promoting Peace and Reconciliation         

  • Healing of Memory groups
